Roma defender Gianluca Mancini is nursing a muscle injury.

The Italian centreback was forced to quit the national team earlier this week after going down with an injury in Italy’s recent draw with North Macedonia.

Early reports suggested Mancini suffered muscle soreness in his right hip abductor.

According to Il Messaggero, the injury does not appear to be serious and Mancini could recover in time for Roma’s first game after the international break with Empoli.

Mancini is back in the capital and will undergo further tests with the club’s medical staff.
