Serie A referee Daniele Orsato spoke about his working relationship with Roma boss Jose Mourinho.

In an interview with Corriere dello Sport, the UEFA match official reflected on his long career and responded to the idea of referees having some sort of agenda against the Special One.

“It’s like my colleague Daniele Chiffi said, we never start a match with prejudice,” remarked Orsato. “There is no agenda. We have other thoughts, other things to worry about.”

“The idea of a prejudiced referee is absurd,” he added.

“De Rossi was someone who always gave you a hard time, but if you met him outside and had a chat you would discover a different guy… Today’s footballers are easier to manage. Mourinho’s Inter, the one who won the treble, had Cambiasso, Stankovic and that marvel of a captain, Zanetti. I go to schools to teach rules education and I always follow his example. Zanetti told me: “Orsato, don’t worry, even if you made a mistake, go on your way.” I miss him, as well as Paolo Maldini and Totti.”
