Ex-Roma manager and current Frosinone coach Eusebio Di Francesco looked back on the Giallorossi’s historic Champions League semifinal in 2018.

In an interview with TMW Radio, Di Francesco took part of the blame for how his time at Roma came to a turbulent end in the 2018/19 season.

“I take the primary responsibility for what happened then,” said Di Francesco. “No excuses there. Maybe I wasn’t put in the right conditions to work, maybe I made some somewhat hasty choices. However, we cannot go back and in time.”

“The journey in the Champions League with Roma was beautiful. The only regret is that if there had been VAR in the match against Liverpool, perhaps the ending would have been different.”

“Those were unique emotions, I only acknowledged it afterwards and not while it was happening. I appreciate it even more now, I don’t know if it did me any good or bad in terms of my career. However, I would give that Roma an 8.5 on their report card: in addition to the Champions League, we finished third in the league.”
