Roma are reportedly considering adding a defender to their roster as the club continue to be faced with injury woes.

Given the uncertain status of Chris Smalling and Diego Llorente, as well as Marash Kumbulla’s long-term injury and Evan Ndicka’s likely departure for AFCON in January, Roma are reportedly open to the idea of an adding another defender.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma would only consider low cost operations akin to Diego Llorente’s arrival on loan from Leeds last season.

Thus, the newspaper reports that the capital club have been offered the services of Jerome Boateng who is still a free agent after his rumored return to Bayern Munich fell through.

The thirty-five-year-old center back was released after two years at Lyon.

For the moment, Boateng has not been taken into consideration by Roma due to his age, contract (he asks for a year plus option for another season) and physical conditions.
