Roma vice-captain Gianluca Mancini had a special reason to celebrate tonight’s remarkable win over Napoli at the Stadio Olimpico.

Mancini – who played through a painful case of pubalgia and was seen wearing the captain’s arm-band as Lorenzo Pellegrini started on the bench – stepped on the field tonight for the 200th time since join Roma in 2019.

Over recent years, Mancini became a fan favorite, with the Curva Sud dedicating a special banner in his honor at the Olimpico tonight.

Following the final whistle, Mancini thanked the Roma supporters in an Instagram post which depicted the special banner in his name.

“Heart, desire and victory! Thank you for an unforgettable banner… 200 appearances with these colours, proud and honored. Forza Roma and merry Christmas to everyone!
