UEFA President Aleksandar Ceferin shared his thoughts on Financial Fair Play.

In an interview with The Guardian, Ceferin sounded optimistic with regards to the workings of the FFP.

“I think financial fair play works well,” he told the newspaper. “We have limited clubs to spending 70% of their revenues on wages, transfers and agents. But you need to know one thing: our main newspaper has 1% of your readership. How is financial fair play implemented in the media market?”

“Markets are markets and it is impossible to do something where a Slovenian club is at the same or similar financial level as English clubs. It is difficult to narrow the gap between the big and the small, but we can prevent its growth or at least try to control it. We try with FFP and, of course, with the fact that 36 clubs now qualify for the group stage in our three men’s competitions.”

Ceferin added, “The advantage of football is that nowadays David can beat Goliath.”
