Algerian midfielder Houssem Aouar was back in Roma’s line-up for last night’s match with Fiorentina.
The ex-Lyon man got on the scoresheet, temporarily equalizing with a header early on in the second half of the match to make it 1-1.
In his post-match interview with Roma TV, Aouar paid special mention to Daniele De Rossi who specifically worked with him closely upon his recent return from a disappointing AFCON tournament with Algeria.
“Tonight was a really nice evening. We showed that we are a great team,” said Aouar. “We can’t win every match, but we did everything we could until the end. This is because we are a great team with a great attitude.”
“De Rossi? When I came back from the Africa Cup of Nations it was a bit difficult mentally for me. It was a great disappointment for me and my country.”
“But every day I train hard, and the coach talks with me a lot. It’s important for me to know what he wants from me. He told me he wants more intensity from me and so I gave him just that. I train every day to be ready and today I am very happy with how it went.”
“We know we can’t always win but with this attitude we can finish the season strong,” he added.
