Daniele De Rossi to continue relying on 4-man defense

Andy Mattioli

Daniele De Rossi is likely to scrap the team’s 3-5-2 formation from the Giallorossi’s gameplan.

After a negative performance with Fiorentina, using the same set-up that was used in the match against Hellas Verona and Salernitana, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that De Rossi will not rely on this formation from the start.

According to the Italian newspaper, De Rossi has come to the conclusion that this particular formation does not benefit most players and slows down the rhythm he wants to impose going forward.

Thus, Roma will continue adapting and switching between variations that include a 4-man backline including  4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-3-2-1 and 4-4-2.

De Rossi would only consider switching back to a 3-5-2 or a 3-4-2-1 system mid-game, based on the needs of the situation at hand.
