Dean Huijsen will not be at Daniele De Rossi’s disposal for the upcoming international break.
In fact, the defender is set to feature for the Spanish U21 national team, reports Corriere dello Sport.
Huijsen – who is currently on loan at Roma from Juventus until the end of the season – recently obtained his Spanish citizenship and decided to represent Spain instead of Holland on a national level.
The defender had represented Holland throughout his first steps as a youth team player, but wants to dedicate himself to the country that welcomed him when he was 5 years old and where he lived ever since, until his journey in Italy with Juventus and Roma began.
His first call-up is expected to take place in the coming weeks.
