Roma manager Daniele De Rossi spoke to Sky Sports minutes away from kick-off to tonight’s first leg of the Europa League quarterfinals with Milan at San Siro.

“Smalling’s appearance from the start? He is a player who has played many games in Europe. I would have liked him to play with either Lazio or Milan and we decided to let him play in Europe. Llorente played against Lazio, Smalling did very well in training and is ready to play today.”

“Spinazzola over Angelino? He has a different kind of pace and makes different runs and brings the ball up the pitch. He gives us different solutions when we want to attack.”

“We want to do well but we are aware that mistakes can happen. The important thing is for the player to be convinced of what they’re doing on the pitch.”

“A sold-out San Siro? It’s a special feeling and makes you stop in your tracks. It’s a wonderful stage to play at.”
