Roma are said to have made contact with Lille superstar Jonathan David.

The capital club are tracking possible replacements of Romelu Lukaku who is set to return to Chelsea upon the conclusion to his loan with the Giallorossi.

Over the last few days, Roma have been linked with various names for the attack, but one name continues to persist and that is Lille’s Jonathan David.

According to Il Messaggero, David is Roma’s desired striker for next season but conditions for his signing make matters complicated given the elevated costs of a deal involving the Canadian attacker and Roma’s limited budget which is also due to them failing to qualify to the Champions League.

David is a difficult transfer target as several other clubs have made inquiries for him. Despite his contract being up in a year’s time, Lille will seek a large fee for him.

As a result, Roma are also monitoring other players including Stuttgart’s Guirassy.
