Former Roma player and current Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti paid tribute to legendary Giallorossi captain Agostino Di Bartolomei.

In light of Di Bartolomei’s 30th death anniversary, Ancelotti spoke about his impact in an interview with Il Tempo.

”I always remember him with great affection. I think it’s right to remember it for this anniversary, but in general in all anniversaries.”

”Agostino was an important figure for Roma, for Italian football, but above all on a personal level for each of us.”

”It was very sad news when he died, I was in Milan at that time. It was partly a surprise, because I talked to him a couple of months earlier, he was working on something about football statistics and we had seen each other. He seemed to me the usual Augustino, very quiet, very serious, very serene.”

“I don’t think anyone expected it. Also because by being very taciturn he did not express his depression.”

”Augustino helped the newcomers a lot, he was a real captain. He helped the new, not just the young, with the setting. He was used to inviting us to his house for dinner. In this he was very sensitive, he really acted like a captain. An example on the field and also off the field.”
