Gambian midfielder Ebrima Darboe spoke about his future after concluding his loan at Sampdoria from Roma.
Following an unsuccessful loan spell at LASK, Darboe moved to Serie B where he became a steady presence in Andrea Pirlo’s rotations at Sampdoria.
Now, with the season having come to an end, Darboe finds himself back at Trigoria where he is expected to begin preseason with the Giallorossi as he awaits to find out what the future may hold for him.
In an interview with Gianlucadimarzio.com, Darboe was asked about the possibility of returning to Sampdoria.
“I have a contract with Roma,” said the 22-year-old.
“Obviously I would like to return to Sampdoria. I have a good relationship with everyone there and I got along very well.”
“Now, however, it is right to give Roma the necessary time to decide, then we will see. This is fundamental. Finding the right coach, the right team and then it’s up to us players to demonstrate our worth. I can’t wait to start training camp and see what happens.”
“De Rossi? I’ve known him since I was in the Primavera, because I often trained with the first team. I have always admired him and we have always had an excellent relationship.”
“I remember all the training sessions with him… I hope to be able to do even just a small part of what he did in his career. He was a true leader, a captain.”
“When we young people trained with the first team, he was always ready to give us advice and guide us, he helped us to be integrated into the group.”
