Roma president Dan Friedkin in pole position to acquire Everton

Andy Mattioli

Sources from England are placing Roma chairman Dan Friedkin as the favorite to take over Everton.

As reported by The Athletic, The Friedkin Group, the Texas-based owner of Roma, has emerged as the strong favourite to buy Premier League side Everton.

Dan Friedkin, the president of the Giallorossi, is steps away from acquiring the majority of the English club – a reported 94% stake.

Friedkin will make the decision within the next 24 hours.

In case of a go-ahead, Everton would be the third Friedkin Group-owned club after Roma and Cannes.

Any deal would also be subject to Premier League approval, would put an end to months of speculation about the future of the English club and would come just two weeks after a proposed takeover by 777 Partners failed.
