Former Roma player and executive Federico Balzaretti has left Udinese after just one season in his role as technical director.
The Friulians announced the 42 year-old’s contract was terminated by mutual consent, officially ending his brief stint with the club that began last summer. They also revealed his replacement would be former midfielder Gokhan Inler, who spent four seasons with the club from 2007 thru 2011.
Meanwhile, Balzaretti released a brief statement thanking Udinese and their supporters after a difficult campaign that nearly ended in relegation.
“It was a difficult, painful season, lived with emotion until the last breath, but in the end we made it,” Balzaretti told their official website.
“I want to embrace all of Udinese: the Pozzo family, the general manager Collavino, the coaches, staff members, players and all areas of the club. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the fans and to all of Udine for their support and passion. I wish everyone a great future.”
