Former Roma player Simone Perrotta discussed Luciano Spalletti’s decision to give Lorenzo Pellegrini Ita;y’s number 10 shirt for the Euro’s.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Perrotta – who played for Roma between 2004 and 2013 – weighed in on Pellegrini’s play-style with Italy.
“Pellegrini is different from Frattesi, he’s more of a true number 10,” said Perrotta. “He likes to have the ball at his feet.”
“Like Scamacca he is obviously different from Totti, even if they have one thing in common: if you leave them half a meter they will kill you with the shot.”
“Gianluca has to draw out the defenders, creating space for Frattesi, who however cannot just wait for the centre-forward’s work, but with his insertions he has to create problems for the opponent’s defense. Totti played on these indecisions, and he enjoyed himself a lot.”
