Stephan El Shaarawy has one year left on his contract with Roma.
But the Italian winger’s affection for the capital club knows no bounds and the player is now pondering his future.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, El Shaarawy’s close rapport with Roma head coach Daniele De Rossi could factor into his decision ahead of next year.
The newspaper reports that De Rossi would be the first one to advocate for El Shaarawy’s extension.
A year ago El Shaarawy extended his contract until 30 June 2025, accepting a salary of 2.5 million euros, lower than in the past.
Everything suggests that El Shaarawy will remain in the capital next year as well, perhaps extending his agreement with Roma again. Also because the feeling with the coach is definitely reciprocated: De Rossi would hardly endorse his transfer.
