Roma are ready to formulate their offer for Ukrainian striker Artem Dovbyk of Girona.
The 27-year-old La Liga top goal-scorer of last season is the latest name to be linked with the capital club who are yet to replace Romelu Lukaku.
With less than one month left until the start of the new Serie A season, Roma want to secure a strong striker to lead Daniele De Rossi’s team in the upcoming campaign.
With Atletico Madrid hesitance to meet Dovbyk’s demands, Roma have decided to swoop in an attempt to hijack the deal for the Ukraine international.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport, the player gave the Giallorossi an opening and is willing to consider their offer, but the conditions need to be improved for Girona to accept Roma’s bid.
Overtaking Atletico at the last minute remains difficult for the Giallorossi, adds Di Marzio.
