Reports from France suggest Roma’s interest in Jonathan David was real.

The Lille star attacker had been a target for the Giallorossi prior to their signing of Artem Dovbyk from Girona.

Today’s edition of L’Equipe states that David – who is now in the sights of Tottenham Hotspurs – was approached by Roma a few weeks ago.

The Canadian striker, however, was not keen on Roma as his next destination and supposedly rejected the capital club’s proposal.

As a result, Roma turned to Artem Dovbyk and sealed an agreement with Girona for his arrival.
