Eldor Shomurodov could stay at Roma, fill in as Dovbyk’s back-up

Andy Mattioli

Roma are yet to make a decision with regards to the future of Eldor Shomurodov.

Upon returning from his loan at Cagliari, the Uzbek striker was immediately placed on Roma’s transfer list with the club intending to sell him.

However, no concrete offer came for him as talks with Atlanta United collapsed as well.

More recently, writes Corriere dello Sport, Lecce came for him, asking about another loan with Roma having to contribute to his salary.

Roma are said to be reflecting on this recent approach as Shomurodov’s departure would mean the need to sign another striker with only a few days left before the transfer deadline.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, it is more probable to envision Shomurodov staying and acting Dovbyk’s back-up while Tammy Abraham is set for a move to West Ham.
