The German defender touched down at Fiumicino Airport on Wednesday afternoon before undergoing his medical with Roma and signing his new contract.
In the meantime, a video taken by one of the fans in attendance shows that Lazio president Claudio Lotito was also present at the airport among the crowd of Roma supporters waiting for the ex-Borussia Dortmund to arrive.
Several Lazio fans took issue with their chairman’s unexpected presence.
