The Italian winger was forced to leave the pitch in the match against Monza, replaced by Nicola Zalewski as Roma failed to go beyond a 1-1 draw.
After undergoing further tests today, El Shaarawy was diagnosed with a light sprain of the right calf muscle, reports Il Tempo.
The player will work to return to the pitch in the first game after the international break with Inter on 20 October.
