Gianluca Mancini was asked by members of the media about Ivan Juric’s repeated benching of Mats Hummels.
In the aftermath of Roma’s 1-1 draw with Union Saint-Gilloise, Mancini discussed this subject with the reporters gathered in the mixed zone.
“I am an admirer of Mats, because I am younger than him,” said Mancini.
“I watched him at the bar with my friends during the Champions League final. I spontaneously call him ‘the professor’ because, just by looking at him, you understand that he is a champion.”
“He has integrated very well into the group and is a true leader. Even if he plays little, he is always positive and talks a lot with us, trying to motivate us.”
“As for the technical choices, I limit myself to observing: I cannot answer because this is the coach’s job.”
