Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi was in attendance at the Stadio Olimpico for the VII edition of the Social Football Summit, an event dedicated to the football industry.

During the event, Ghisolfi made some comments to the media about Claudio Ranieri’s recent appointment.

“It’s definitely not an easy time. I think we are the captains of our fate and we have to keep our spirits high,” said the French executive.

“We have to bring everyone with us. We are certainly not happy to be living through this moment but we have to be positive and move forward.”

“I think it is fundamental for me and the entire club to work with Ranieri. It’s very important to have him with us.”

“He is a gentleman, he is different from what we are used to. For me it is an honor to learn from him and walk alongside him.”

“He will bring calm. There is no need to introduce Ranieri and his career. We believe he is the right person to bring improvements and results in the short term.”

“We also look ahead. We must not remain impassive. We want to build with Ranieri because we believe that an Italian figure is needed at the club.”

“Market strategy? We changed our strategy this summer. Now we prefer to invest in the long term rather than loan experienced players with higher salaries.”

“When we bought Konè we did it for 5 years and it cost less than loaning Renato Sanches last season. With Konè we can give added value. We have these objectives such as decreasing the age of the team.”

“We have achieved these objectives and now we have to try to find the right performance on the pitch.”

“We need a precise strategy, I arrived in June with a strategy. We have to continue on the path we have traced because the old system was not sustainable.”

“We must take responsibility for the situation we are experiencing to believe in our project because things can change very quickly.”

“Let’s think about Napoli who is now fighting for things of great value but last season changed three coaches.”

“Ranieri’s arrival? When he walked into Trigoria the whole place lit up. His first speech to the team was very touching. He is the right choice both for the short-term objectives as well as the long-term mission.”

“The fans? Every day we wake up for our fans. We know they deserve much more.”
