Roma midfielder Manu Koné shared insights into the team’s approach leading up to their 2-0 triumph over Lazio in the Derby della Capitale on Sunday.

The French international, who played the full 90 minutes, emphasized the squad’s dedication and focus throughout the week.

“We prepared for the match by working hard all week,” Koné explained during a post-match press conference.

“We analyzed Lazio’s tactical setup, their strengths, weaknesses, and how they position themselves on set pieces. Tonight, we started strong, especially in the first half. We’re really happy with the win.”

When asked about the possibility of Claudio Ranieri staying on as coach next season, Koné was supportive.

“Yes, why not?,” he answered. “He’s a great coach and is proving it. He’s bringing out the best in this team and has immediately instilled charisma and confidence.”

Finally, Koné reflected on the emotional weight of the Derby—confessing he didn’t need anyone to remind him of the importance of the fixture.

“Honestly, no one had to tell me how important this match is,” stated the Frenchman.

“From the moment I started living in this city, I understood it was special and full of tension. The staff and players prepared with care and attention all week to fully grasp the challenge ahead.”
