Claudio Ranier is reportedly tempted by the prospect of taking over Italy’s national team.

The former Roma coach turned senior club advisor has been approached by FIGC president Gabriele Gravina.

As reported by Eleonora Trotta of calciomercato.it, the two held a one-hour phone call in which Gravina insisted on making Ranieri Spalletti’s successor ahead of the World Cup in 2026.

Ranieri has asked for some time to reflect on this opportunity.

In the meantime, Alfredo Pedulla reports that the Italian federation will now proceed to contact the Friedkins and ask them about Ranieri’s availability.

A decision is expected to be made today.
