Claudio Ranieri has decided to turn down the opportunity to coach the Italian national team.
As confirmed by Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport, Ranieri has communicated his decision to the FIGC who will have to seek an alternative replacement of Luciano Spalletti.
Ranieri’s decision stems from his intention to continue as Roma’s advisor.
The senior executive is grateful for the Friedkins and does not want to go against the club in this crucial time that sees him play a key role in Gian Piero Gasperini’s tenure.
