Despite being relegated with Venezia, former Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco is stepping back into Serie A as the new manager of Lecce.

According to Luca Cilli of Sky Sport, Di Francesco, who managed Roma from 2017 to 2019, has signed a one-year contract with the club, including an option for a second season that’s activated if the team secures safety in Serie A.

Lecce narrowly avoided the drop this past season, finishing 17th in the table and three points above 18th ranked Empoli.

Following his tenure in Veneto, Di Francesco now embarks on a fresh challenge in Italy’s top flight.
