Confirming the progress of negotiations was his agent, Craig Butler, who, upon arriving in the capital, released a brief interview to The Gleaner that leaves no doubt about the club’s genuine interest in the transfer.
“Roma is a wonderful club and a wonderful city, so any opportunity from them must be taken seriously and evaluated,” said Butler.
According to various sources, negotiations between Roma and Aston Villa are nearing completion.
The agreement would involve a loan deal, costing less than €4 million, with a buy-out option set at around €20-23 million.
A clear sign of the desire to complete the deal came from Bailey’s exclusion from the squad for the Premier League match against Newcastle, an indication that the player is no longer part of Aston Villa manager Unai Emery’s immediate plans.
