Legendary youth coach Alberto De Rossi gave an interview to Tuttomercatoweb.

The head of national team coach development and training was a longtime Roma Primavera coach and spoke in detail about the Roman youth academy.

“For me, belonging is an important concept, which I try to convey and encourage. Our goal is always to start from our local area, from Rome, from the kids who want to become Roma players. We need to be present in the local area; I like that the Roma jersey is a dream for young people.”

“The biggest challenge for young players is the transition from the youth teams to the first teams, from being young to being an adult.”

“As AS Roma, we’re evaluating the creation of an Under-23 team, and we’ve seen that other clubs have benefited from it. We’re talking about it, and we’ll see how the project progresses; it’s under discussion.”

“However, I would add two strictly personal points related to the issue: as a football system, we should make a contribution to the second teams and reconsider the Primavera issue. I don’t agree with the reform implemented.”

“Raising the age limit for the league isn’t practical. And I say this with full knowledge of the facts; the Primavera championship has been my life.”
