The search continues for a striker to gift to Gasperini in the next transfer window, and the main target is now clear: Joshua Zirkzee.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma is in constant contact with Manchester United, who have already given their green light to a loan deal with an option to buy.

Zirkzee is a particularly popular prospect for Gasperini, who has been following him since his time at Atalanta and considers him the ideal player to fill the attacking void, so far struggling to fill the gap between Dovbyk and Ferguson.

Roma would cover the remaining six months of the player’s salary, worth approximately €1.8 million.

The deal would involve a loan with an option to buy, with the option to acquire him permanently in the summer for a fee close to €30 million.

The only real obstacle for Massara remains the fierce competition: Zirkzee is being pursued by several clubs in both Serie A and the Premier League.

This situation could complicate Roma’s bid, especially since the striker, who has been used sparingly in Manchester, fears losing ground ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
