At 35, and following recent rumors of a possible return to Juventus, former Roma and Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanić has decided to retire from football.
The news, reported by TMW, marks the end of a career that saw him play a key role in Italy for several years.
Pjanić was one of Roma’s key midfielders from 2011 to 2016, a period in which he stood out for his exceptional technical ability, excellent vision, and considerable threat from set pieces.
The Bosnian arrived at Trigoria on August 31, 2011, from Lyon. He remained in the capital for five seasons, working under various managements, from Luis Enrique to Rudi Garcia, under whom he established himself as a regular starter.
For the Giallorossi, Pjanić played a total of 185 matches, scoring 30 goals and providing 44 assists in all competitions.
In Serie A alone, he made 159 appearances and scored 27 goals.
In Europe, he made 17 appearances and scored two goals in UEFA club competitions with Roma.
His Roman experience ended in June 2016, when Juventus exercised his release clause, investing €32 million for his move to Turin. Today, fresh from retirement, Pjanić is ready to embark on a new professional journey.
The former midfielder is currently in Dubai with his family, where he has already begun studying to become a sports agent, aiming to obtain his license and pursue this new direction in the world of football.
