During an interview with Cronache di Spogliatoio and Rivista Undici, Tiago Pinto returned to discuss his experience at Roma, acknowledging the results and decisions he made during his three years with the Giallorossi.

Today at Bournemouth, the former General Manager listed the merits and limitations of a journey often lived under difficult conditions.

Pinto didn’t hide his mistakes, “Those who don’t appreciate me will bring up Viña, Renato Sanches, or Shomurodov”, but he also recalled key moves in building the current squad: “Something good has been done: Svilar and Ndicka on free transfers, Celik for €7 million. Sometimes, not having money helps you find solutions.”

Pinto speaks fondly of his three-year stint at Roma: “I have only good things to say. In three years, we reached a Europa League semifinal and final and won a Conference. It wasn’t enough because everyone wanted the Champions League, but we achieved something.”

The youth sector is the one he’s most proud of: “Our strategy worked there: Zalewski, Bove, Calafiori, Pisilli. And also Marin, now PSG’s third-choice goalkeeper. Let’s not forget Mourinho: he played a fundamental role in giving the young players space.”

An overall assessment that Pinto summarizes as follows: “Considering the economic situation and all the limitations, I think we managed to do a lot with very little.”
