Roma’s transfer market is in full swing, and the team has no intention of sitting idly by.

Following Gasperini’s message in Glasgow, sporting director Massara decided not to return with the team on Friday, but to fly to London to meet with several agents.

The hottest name on the table is Zirkzee, although contacts with Manchester United will intensify in the coming days.

The Giallorossi have received the OK from the Friedkins, but the negotiations are likely to be a long one, as the Red Devils don’t want to part with the player before mid-January, when they will lose Mbeumo and Diallo to the Africa Cup of Nations.

Zirkzee, acquired from Bologna for €60 million in the summer of 2024, is not unsellable, but Roma faces an initial €50 million request that appears difficult to meet.

The proposed solution, reports Il Messaggero, would be a loan with an obligation to buy, set at €40 million, tied to Champions League qualification.

This is a goal within reach for Gian Piero Gasperini’s team, which after four months of the season sits in fourth place, three points behind Inter and four points behind the top two, AC Milan and Napoli.

Should Serie A end today, Roma would therefore return to Europe’s top club after seven seasons in Europe and the Conference League.
