After convincing victories against Lecce and Sassuolo, Roma is ready to welcome Torino to the Stadio Olimpico for the second time this season.
This time, however, the competition will be the Coppa Italia, and a spot in the quarterfinals against Chivu’s Inter is at stake.
Gian Piero Gasperini, interviewed by Sport Mediaset, spoke about the Coppa Italia: “We failed to win it against Atalanta three times, and that’s a huge disappointment. It’s not a very popular competition at the beginning, but as it progresses, it becomes very important, and everyone cares deeply about it. In fact, at the end of the day, the best teams are there.”
The coach then continued, emphasizing the importance of playing the final in the capital: “For Roma, there’s always the opportunity to play the final at home, in Rome, and that would be crucial.”
“However, from here on out, the road becomes challenging: there’s Torino, then potentially Inter, and the strongest teams in the league.”
Gasperini then concluded by discussing his opponents: “Torino confirms they are a very solid and dangerous team. They may not have the consistency to reach the top of the table, but they remain tough to face. It was our first league defeat, but I remember it was incredibly hot: nothing like the temperatures today.”
