The victory in Turin brought mixed feelings for Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma.

While there’s excitement over the discovery of a new center forward and the three points earned, there’s also deep concern over Mario Hermoso’s physical condition.

The Spanish defender was forced off the pitch after just 22 minutes of play, prompting immediate concerns about a serious injury.

Gian Piero Gasperini, speaking at the post-match press conference, confirmed the negative feelings. “This is the negative part of the evening. We’re very worried about a tendon injury,” the coach said, implying that the situation could be more serious than expected.

A worsening of his groin pain, a problem the player has been dealing with for weeks, is therefore ruled out.

If the tendon damage is confirmed, Il Tempo reports, Hermoso could be sidelined for a long time, depriving the team of a key defensive player.

This absence would add to the already certain absence of Dovbyk, who is dealing with the same problem.

The striker will undergo surgery in Finland and is expected to be sidelined for at least two and a half months. Injury management is now a priority for the coaching staff, who will need to find rapid solutions to maintain competitiveness and solidity at a crucial stage of the season.

Meanwhile, the Giallorossi face two matches in a matter of days at the Stadio Olimpico: first Stuttgart in the Europa League, then AC Milan in the league.
