Roma made the arrival of Bryan Zaragoza official on the evening of February 2nd.
The Spaniard is Roma’s latest signing, with Gian Piero Gasperini securing the highly sought-after left winger.
The 2001-born player gave his first interview as a Giallorossi player to the club’s microphones. He explained how the deal came about: “It all happened suddenly: from one day to the next, they informed me that there was the possibility of moving to Roma, and I didn’t think twice. I said I wanted to come to Roma and play for this team. I also want to thank the club, the owners, Massara, Gasperini, and everyone. I want to thank them for giving me this opportunity.”
Zaragoza spoke about his goals and Gasperini: “I arrive with high expectations, with great expectations. I want to be important for this club, I want to win titles, and I hope we’ll be playing in the Champions League next year. Yes, I know Gasperini because last year I really liked the way his team played; they were beautiful to watch and played really good football. I’m eager to begin this adventure and see what the coach can teach me. He’ll help me, and I’ll be able to learn a lot from him.”
He commented on his playing style and his meeting with Paulo Dybala: “I’ve always enjoyed dribbling, one-on-one situations, and street football. I have to say that dribbling and one-on-one situations are among my greatest strengths. Yes, as soon as I arrived at the training center, I met Paulo and spoke with him. Paulo is truly a great player, and being able to share the dressing room with him is a real pleasure.”
Zaragoza explained his choice of number 97 and the change of league: “Since in Spain or Germany I couldn’t wear a number higher than 25, here I was very attracted to the idea of opting for a bigger number. So I liked 97, and my family and I decided it was the number we wanted to choose. Yes, I’ve already played in La Liga and the Bundesliga, and I didn’t think I’d reach Serie A; I made the decision on the spur of the moment. I have to say that I’m really looking forward to starting in this league. I think it’s a complicated and difficult league, but I’ll give it my all to try and win.”
On returning to the Spanish national team: “I have to say that last year I had enough time on the national team, despite the injuries I’ve had. This year, not yet, but I think the opportunity will come soon, and I think my goal, or one of my goals, is to reach the World Cup.”
