Following clashes on the highway between Roma fans and Fiorentina supporters, the Ministry of the Interior ordered the closure of the away section to Roma fans until the end of the season.
The measure, deemed excessive and unfair by fans, immediately sparked reactions and formal initiatives.
In response to the decision, the Italian Association of Roma Clubs (A.I.R.C.) and the Union of Roman Fans (U.T.R.) announced they will file an appeal with the Lazio Regional Administrative Court (TAR), appointing lawyers Paolo Alberto Reineri and Lorenzo Contucci to handle the legal action.
The statement released by attorney Contucci provides the full reasons for the legal action: “The Italian Association of Roma Clubs (A.I.R.C.) and the Union of Roman Fans (U.T.R.) – through attorneys Paolo Alberto Reineri and myself – have appealed to the Lazio Regional Administrative Court (TAR) against the Ministry of the Interior’s order to close the away fans’ section of the stadium until the end of the season.
The Lazio Regional Administrative Court (TAR) has granted the request for an abbreviation of the deadline, given the urgency, and has set the hearing for February 17.” The hearing scheduled by the administrative court represents the first formal step in assessing the legitimacy of the ministerial order, while the closure of the away fans’ section for the Giallorossi’s away matches remains in effect until further notice.
