Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini analyzed his team’s performance following their 2-2 draw against Napoli at the Maradona stadium.
“It’s a shame about the final result,” said Gasperini. “We often finish games with young players up front; they need to grow and get some playing time. They have freshness and energy; we could have capitalized on certain opportunities better.”
“Malen? I’ve always been a huge fan of him. He has the best qualities for a striker: he’s complete, quick, fast, knows how to link up with his teammates, and shoots very well. This team needs a striker like him; he’s scoring very frequently. He can always do better. If we could also get Dybala and Soulé back, who was a bit injured, we’d become even more competitive.”
“The penalty? It wasn’t easy, it was tough. We’d already seen it in training; he also takes free kicks well. It wasn’t easy against Milinkovic-Savic, but he was very precise and good.”
“With Malen, we would have gained a few more points since the start of the season, but the team has improved. In the first half of the season, we won many games, but we lost the head-to-head matches. In the second half of the season, we’re doing better; we drew with Milan and Napoli. There’s disappointment; we came very close to winning these two games.”
