Ultimately, the only name that remains out of the conversation on the pitch is Evan Ferguson.

The Irish striker has become a hot topic at Trigoria, more than just an absence.

He won’t be playing against Cremonese either: the pain in his left ankle isn’t going away, and yet another relapse has forced him to sit out again.

According to Il Messaggero, Ferguson is still dealing with persistent discomfort that is preventing him from returning to the team.

The medical staff is proceeding with extreme caution, but there’s currently no certainty about his recovery time. This is a worrying situation because the problem, more than acute, appears to have become chronic.

For Gasperini, this is a significant loss in terms of rotation, given Dovbyk’s simultaneous unavailability, but it’s also a management issue: forcing things now would make little sense.

Ferguson remains off the technical and tactical radar, while Roma is forced to move forward without being able to count on him at a crucial stage of the season.
