The first leg of the Europa League round of 16 between Bologna and Roma ended 1-1. Bernardeschi’s opener for the Emilians was matched by Pellegrini, who came on in the second half for El Aynaoui.
The return match at the Olimpico in a week’s time will be decisive. After the match, Bryan Cristante, Roma captain tonight, spoke to Sky Sport.
On the match: “It was a tough match. They played very aggressively, but we reacted after the goal. We could have scored another. We responded in the right way. Everyone is coming after us now; there’s little space, and with our limited rotation, we’re creating fewer chances up front.”
Cristante continued: “It was a very tense game, not easy to play because both we and them pressed hard, but then in the second half we managed to create something more.”
Before the return leg, Roma faces an important league match. On Sunday, the Giallorossi will face Como in a playoff for fourth place.
