Although the summer transfer window is still more than two months away, Roma are starting to look around, and Gasperini could rekindle an old obsession for next season.

The Giallorossi have reportedly set their sights on Remo Freuler.

The Swiss midfielder, whose contract with Bologna expires and who intends not to renew, could arrive on a free transfer, an opportunity that could entice sporting director Massara.

Although not a priority, as reported by Il Corriere dello Sport, the player could become a viable option for a Gasperini-style midfield, a profile highly valued by the coach.

Freuler, who turns 34 on April 15, is a loyal supporter of the Piedmontese coach, who shaped him at Atalanta, but age isn’t seen as an obstacle.

Today, Freuler is still a key player for Switzerland and recently spoke about his future: “I haven’t decided yet; we’ll see what happens, given that my contract expires. I haven’t ruled out staying in Italy. Many Swiss players play in Serie A, a league that suits our qualities well. We’re developing with good tactical intelligence.”
