A few minutes before kickoff in the big match against Atalanta, Stephan El Shaarawy spoke to DAZN.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s team faces the Bergamo side confident they can earn important points in their Champions League race, capitalizing on Como’s slip-up yesterday.

Regarding the current form and motivation of the dressing room, El Shaarawy stated: “We’re coming prepared and motivated, especially considering yesterday’s results. We have a chance of overcoming Como and catching up with Juve. It’s a crucial match for the league table, but also and above all for our mental health and confidence.”

The player then answered a question about his performance this year. The player’s last goal dates back to January 2025. A lack of play is a burden, but it’s been conditioned this year by a different role and fewer minutes played.

Regarding the burden of this drought, he clarified: “It’s burdensome… I’m a striker, and this year I’ve played fewer minutes than in previous years. I even played as a fullback and that had an impact. It’s something I miss, and I’ve still scored goals over the years. Today, we still need a win, and we have to give our all.”
