Dybala’s extension only possible under two conditions

“Today I play for Roma and defend this jersey. You never know what can happen. Of course, I’d like to spend more time with Leandro and his family. We’ll see.”

With these words, Paulo Dybala commented on his future. Returning to the pitch at the Dall’Ara for just 14 minutes plus injury time, the Argentine appeared far from being in top form to become a key player for the final four matchdays of the season.

The number 21’s adventure with Roma has reached a crossroads.

This year’s numbers—just 23 appearances with 3 goals and 4 assists—are certainly not those of a top player, but his salary is.

And—as reported in Il Corriere dello Sport—the likelihood of the owner reopening negotiations for a renewal is extremely low.

The coach has already asked for further reinforcements in attack, which would overshadow Dybala.

A permanent contract, therefore, would only be possible under two conditions: a payroll contract only if Roma are unable to secure reinforcements for his position. This situation is still pending, and will be resolved by the next sporting director.

Massara is set to leave Trigoria, and the club has begun casting for a replacement.

Discussions are still ongoing, and all options are still in the early stages.

So far, Giuntoli, Sogliano, and Manna have been put forward.

D’Amico is popular, but Atalanta is keeping him locked in. Finally, Paratici, rejected by the now former senior advisor Ranieri, is on hold.
