Artem Dovbyk has returned to training with the team and is smiling again.

A four-month nightmare is over for the Ukrainian striker: surgery for a myotendinous tear in his left thigh debilitated him throughout the second half of the season.

If the Giallorossi number 9 can maintain Gasperini’s training routine these days, he could be included in the squad for the derby against Lazio.

The former Girona player hasn’t played since January 6th: Lecce-Roma 0-2, a game in which he scored his third goal of the season, which is also his last.

Artem Dovbyk is back training with his teammates, but his future seems increasingly distant from Rome.

As Il Tempo reports, the Ukrainian striker is now back in action after surgery, although the matches against Lazio and Verona could be his last for Roma. Gasperini has found the ideal striker for his style of play in Malen, and the numbers confirm it: 13 goals after his first 16 Serie A matches. A devastating impact.

The best solution for everyone—the player (he wouldn’t be a bench warmer) and the club (he would try to recoup part of the investment and be relieved of his high salary)—is to say goodbye at the end of the season after two uninspiring years.
