Mason Greenwood remains Roma’s dream. Or rather, something more.
The English striker from Marseille is the top priority of the Giallorossi transfer market and the name Gian Piero Gasperini continues to point to as the ideal player to raise the club’s attacking caliber in their return to the Champions League.
As reported by Il Tempo, work continues under the radar at Trigoria. Intermediaries have been working for weeks, especially with the player’s father, who is also an agent, to finalize all aspects of the player’s agreement before entering the decisive phase of negotiations with Marseille.
The strategy is clear: arrive at the table with the French club with the interested party’s approval in hand. The main obstacle remains the price. Olympique Marseille continues to value Greenwood at over €50 million, a figure Roma considers too high.
However, the Giallorossi are confident in the financial difficulties of the French club, which will necessarily have to make significant sales in the coming weeks to balance its books. There is also another factor weighing on the player’s valuation.
Indeed, when he left Manchester United, Marseille agreed to pay the English club 40% of the player’s future resale price. This is a significant detail that explains why the French club continues to maintain their high demands.
The feeling, however, is that the gap can be bridged. At Trigoria, they believe that an offer of around €45 million, enhanced by easily achievable bonuses, could represent the right basis for getting closer to the final goal.
