New York City FC’s sensational offer of €10 million per season for five years for Christian Pulisic immediately shook the entire US transfer market.
This transaction, with its significant financial impact, has effectively rekindled speculation about the American playmaker’s return to MLS.
According to The Athletic, interest in the former Chelsea player isn’t limited to the New York club alone: the entire American league is closely monitoring the situation, with several franchises poised to enter the fray to compete for the player and bring him back to his homeland in what promises to be a veritable internal auction.
On the European front, however, the situation remains unclear.
The 1998-born player, recently linked with Roma following an exploratory survey by his entourage, has yet to make a definitive decision on his future.
This uncertainty is likely to persist at least until the end of the World Cup, a competition in which the Stars and Stripes have already qualified for the round of 32. At the same time, his ties with AC Milan remain solid: his contract with the Rossoneri runs until 2027 and also includes a unilateral renewal option for a further season in favor of the Rossoneri, further complicating any immediate departure scenarios.
A few days ago, the player’s agent reportedly explored the Roma option, but the option was met with no support, with a rather firm veto from the Rossoneri. New coach Ruben Amorim, in fact, considers him a key element of the project and is unlikely to let him go.
