Roma were held to a draw at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in Istanbul against Fenerbahce.
Despite Gasperini’s men taking an early lead through Cristante, the Turks finally equalized early in the second half thanks to Brown, a perfect pass from Greenwood.
After the match, the Roma coach analyzed the game to Sky Sport: “We played a good match, it wasn’t easy on this pitch and in this environment. They played on the counterattack and had some very quick players, so this draw was the result, which isn’t bad for the league standings.”
The coach continued: “Unfortunately, we had a poor set-up for the 1-1 goal, and it’s something we need to work on. You can’t always play the football you want, especially in this type of competition. The substitutions came in well: Balerdi, Molina, and Pisilli did very well, but it wasn’t easy. I hoped Mora’s speed could help us, but it wasn’t easy. De Roon came on at the end, and so far, everyone has had the right approach.”
Gasperini concluded: “Two clues speak volumes, and if we’ve conceded goals early in the second half in two games, there must be a reason. We’ll have to be particularly careful starting next match. We’ve been less at risk on other occasions, but today and against Atalanta, we conceded early in the second half.”
