Roma’s stadium, to be built in Pietralata, has been included in the dossier submitted by the FIGC for Euro 2032.
The Italian Football Federation announced the news in a statement on its website: “Within the deadline set by UEFA, the FIGC today submitted the dossiers of the venues deemed suitable to continue the bid process to host matches at Euro 2032.”
Not just Rome; as the statement states, 14 stadiums have been included: “President Giovanni Malagò has forwarded to Alexander Ceferin, head of the European football governing body, the formal communication containing the assessment carried out by the FIGC offices regarding the complete investigation of 13 cities (Bari, Bologna, Cagliari, Florence, Genoa, Lecce, Milan, Naples, Palermo, Rome, Salerno, Turin, and Verona) and 14 stadiums (the capital is competing with the Stadio Olimpico and the project for the new Pietralata stadium; Naples with the Maradona stadium).”
UEFA will now have to carry out its own checks: “Upon receipt of the dossiers, UEFA will conduct the necessary compliance checks, which cover 11 thematic areas, including infrastructure compatibility and 120 operational requirements (for example, fan services, accessibility, sustainability, media and broadcast services, security, and hospitality). Only afterward will the Federation proceed to select the five host venues.”
President Malagò made the following statement: “We are satisfied with the number and quality of the dossiers that have arrived at the FIGC, demonstrating the commitment and participation with which Italy has responded to this challenge. I would like to thank UEFA for its fruitful collaboration and all the public and private entities that have contributed to this selection process with professionalism, expertise, and vision. The work done so far confirms our shared desire to offer EURO 2032 cities and venues worthy of a major international event.”
