Daniele De Rossi spoke to Rai Sport and confirmed his retirement from the Azzurri after Italy’s humiliating elimination by Sweden during World Cup qualification. These are his words:
“It’s a dark moment for our football and very dark for us footballers who have been part of this two year cycle. There will be the time to evaluate but I think the only thing I can say now is to build upon the spirit the guys showed today. The Federation has the task of starting from this disappointing moment. I’ve been around the world with this shirt for over a decade, so to take it off for the last time is an odd feeling.”
